John Potter Youth Music Scholarship Awarded by Crossroads Music to Attend Centrum Blues Workshop

Crossroads Music Will Again Offer The John Potter Youth Music Scholarship for 2016.

Port Townsend, WA. June 2016-  Crossroads Music will award a scholarship to attend the Centrum Acoustic Blues Workshop. Recipient must be 18 years of age or younger.  The scholarship is valued at $570.00

Crossroads Music will award the youth music scholarship to one person in honor of their dear friend and teacher John Potter who passed in 2013.  He taught at Crossroads Music for 16 years and gave so much of his time to teaching so many in this community and helping continue Port Townsend’s heritage as an arts community.  Music was a deep passion for John and he believed in its power to transform lives.

The scholarship is open to all types of musicians, including vocalists, guitar, uke, banjo, piano players and any type of instrument taught at the Centrum Blues workshop, held from July 31-August 7, 2015.  The Acoustic Blues Workshop is a week long musical experience where students learn the songs and techniques of blues music.  It is in its 24th year and is held at Fort Worden State Park.  This festival has served to preserve America’s music, Blues. Centrum connects aspiring musicians with master blues teachers who share their knowledge of the traditional, pre-war style of the Blues. For information on the workshop visit

The deadline to submit the application is July 1st.  The scholarship will be awarded on July 6th.  Applications are available at Crossroads Music located at 2100 Lawrence Street in Port Townsend. Crossroads Music is open Monday-Friday 10:00am – 6:00pm and Saturdays 12:00pm – 4:00pm.
